About the Co-Op

Locally grown and community-owned since 2011, the Placerville Food Co-Op is a full service grocery store, featuring organic produce, raw milk, organic and grass fed meats, gluten free foods, bulk nuts and grains, kombucha drinks and more. Come visit us and enjoy the great, nutritious food in our deli!

How it All Started

2008
Co-Op Planning Begins

David Harde lists Noah’s Ark for sale, and planning for the Placerville Food Co-Op began, along with the formation of the core group.

First Community Meeting

Community meeting held at Cozmic Café with over 125 in attendance. Virtual unanimous agreement to go ahead with Placerville Natural Foods Co-op information and fundraising.

Co-Op Opens to the Public

In October 2011 the Co-op officially opens it's doors to the public.

Co-Op Reaches 2,000+ Owners

Co-op purchases building

After leasing our location for 15 years, the co-op launched a capital campaign. With help from member donations, a fiscal sponsorship through the El Dorado Community Foundation and 2 lenders (LEAF and River Valley Community Bank), the co-op purchased the building. The co-op secured financing to purchase the building in March 2026, decreasing operational costs and adding adding security and organizational wealth.
